Coaching Staff

Brian Lux, Head Coach – Varsity

Brian has lived in Anchorage since 2018 and previously worked with Alaska Rush Soccer Club as their Technical Director. Before coming to Alaska he worked with Colorado Rush, Rush Pikes Peak and Rush Soccer (SPI). He is currently the Technical Director for the Alaska Youth Soccer Association.

Brian played for the Colorado Rush as a youth player, winning 6 state and two regional titles, as well as a 3rd place finish at nationals. He played at Lakewood High School where he was named 4A JeffCo League MVP his senior year. After graduating from Lakewood, Lux played two seasons of Division I soccer at Drury University in Springfield, Mo. He completed his career at the University of Denver, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics in 2007. He also won 2 U-23 National Championships with the Denver Kickers and finished as runner-up in the US Amateur Cup.

His coaching licensing includes the USSF A License, USSF National Goalkeeper License, USSF National Youth License and the NSCAA/USC Premier Diploma, USC Master Coach Diploma, Scottish FA C License and the UEFA C License. He is also a USSF Grassroots License Instructor and serves as the ADP Director for the state of Alaska.

Brian is married to Lauren (current South girls head coach) and they have a daughter Michaela who was born in January of 2023.

Scott Hickox, Asst. Coach – Varsity

Scott was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. His playing career included, Oregon State Select and ODP teams, winning State Cup titles with his club team. He went on to play college soccer at Santa Rosa Junior College where his team won the California State College Championship.  Scott holds a USSF D License and is currently working on his C license. He has coached recreational soccer for a number of years and is currently coaching the 2004 and 2006 Competitive Boys teams with Cook Inlet S.C. as well as volunteering with the Cook Inlet UPSL Team.

Daniel Horowitz – JV Head Coach

Daniel Horowitz grew up in Alaska and played for many competitive teams in the state and for South Anchorage High School. After high school, he played two years at Edmonds Community College in Washington state. At 18, he began coaching recreational teams and in 2017 moved on to assistant coaching competitive teams. He is currently the head coach for the South Anchorage High School JV boys team and is assisting with the Varsity team, where he works to build a unified and positive environment for players to thrive and grow.
